Verclut point on Jersey (near Archirondel) is the site of a type 680 casemate which was once equipped with a 10.5 cm gun. The emplacement is connected to a former quarry by a short tunnel section.
Today the site has seen one of the most remarkable re-uses; it is now a fish farm for around 6,500 turbots. The fish arrive when around the size of a 50p coin and are sold to local fishmongers or the restaurant trade on maturity after around 3.5 years.
Occasional tours of the site are available by prior arrangement.
